samatethecookie: holy crap, I have this hairstyle now ([se] bookworm grows mushrooms)
Yyyeah, I did have an eye doctor appointment this morning, but he was called into surgery so I had to reschedule. Which is fine with me, because I've been up since 4AM with my head pounding. (It was because I ate food that my system disagrees with. I really oughta know better. :/) At least my sleeping schedule's somewhat returning back to normal?

ANYONE REMEMBER THAT 30 DAY MEME I WAS DOING? Let's get back on track!

Because I'm the nerd that I am, I decided to post some poetry I've been reading and enjoying in my classes lately. I'm in Lit 111: Poetry and Creative Writing, so it's been nothing but poems galore this past week and a half.

when I'm afraid
I might kill myself
if I don't wear it

you've been wearing it
every day since we met

In the end, if the wrong in me is that I a woman compose poems, since clearly man have done so and to great praise, what evil is there in my being a woman poet? (Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz)

Recently in my World Literature class, I was introduced to Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. I thought I'd share a quote from her as well as a poem of hers, translated by Willis Barnstone.

I found another poem that's pretty relevent to 2009 so far - or at least how it starts off. Here's to hoping for the best.

When you see this post, post your favorite poem in your journal.

I'm tied between a few poems. I don't have a specific favorite, so I'm going to post two that I really like at the moment.

First, Like As A Huntsman" by Edmund Spenser.

Now, "What I Learned from My Mother" by Julia Kasdorf.
