Top 15 Favorite Disney Songs.

Working on your feet for ten hours, when you're not used to it? Murder for your feet. Honestly, they haven't hurt this much in weeks. The work itself wasn't so bad, it's just that I'm not used to walking around and standing for ten hours, with only one twenty minute break as "relief". :/
On the plus side, at least I worked ten hours, and work for the next three days; I'm going to have a very awesome paycheck.
On the plus side, I saw this meme going around where you post your favorite Disney songs. I'm not sure how anyone else did it, but I've seen people list their top fifteen, so I did the same. This was really difficult for me, because I love a lot of Disney songs and it's hard for me to rate one over the other. (Also, I'll type longer explanation to some of the songs later. I'm in a hurry to get to work. Sigh. :/)
15. Gaston, Beauty and the Beast
Yes, Gaston is a sexist moron, and he's genuinely scary when he's going after Beast with a spiked club and proclaiming Belle belongs to him, but this song will never stop being funny.
14. I Won't Say (I'm In Love), Hercules
I love Meg, and I love this song even more so. It's not in my top ten, but it's still a song I can't resist listening to when it pops up on my iPod.
13. Two Worlds, Tarzan
I'm surprised that music from Tarzan is lacking on a lot of people's lists. :/ Although, I think I like the music from the movie because Phil Collins worked on it, so maybe I'm biased. Anyway, I included this over "You'll Be In My Heart" because I always preferred this song a bit more. I think it's because of the opening and the overall theme of the movie.
12. If I Can't Love Her, Beauty and the Beast (Broadway; Dundedin, NZ)
I'm not exactly sure if this counts as a Disney song, since it's from the broadway soundtrack, but I couldn't not include this song. I love Belle, but I also love the Beast, and it was nice that he got his own song in the broadway show.
11. A Whole New World, Aladdin
I'm sorry this song didn't make it to the top 10, because it's a great duet. D: Also, they go on a magic carpet ride and go on adventures, and that will never stop being awesome.
10. Best of Friends, Fox and the Hound
This movie is so sweet and depressing all in one.
This song reminds me too much of a friend I used to have. She was from China and we were able to become friends, despite her poor English and my shyness, because the teacher arranged us to sit across from each other at lunch. She was not only my creative partner and my best friend, she was practically my sister since she and Ashley used to come by my house every day. We watched Sailor Moon religiously together, went to see the movie Mulan, she was there for me when there were problems in my family and I couldn't talk to anyone else about it, I tried to be there for her when she talked about her own father and how little he loved her because she was a girl, she was blunt with me without hurting my feelings, and ... so many other things. She even got me a Gundam Wing manga for my birthday, despite the fact she didn't like the series.
Then her mother got her converted to a religion, she slowly got swallowed up by it, and our friendship broke up because we couldn't stop butting heads over it. The last time I talked to her, she IMed me and told me how much she actually liked Gundam Wing when she tried to watch it again. Then she told me she was returning to China for university. And that was it. I still regret what happened and I miss her every day, whenever I watch Sailor Moon or whenever I look through the photographs.
This movie, and this song, brings it all back. We're not exactly like the two characters, but we were very different from one another yet we became best friends and worked through those differences. I hope, someday, we can be friends again, but if it doesn't happen, I can at least hope she thinks about me as much as I think about her.
9. Baby Mine, Dumbo
I think just about, well, nearly everyone has this song in their lists, and I don't blame them. It's a lovely lullaby from a mother to her child, but it's such a sad song because Dumbo can't be with his mother and she has to comfort him through the bars. My mom told me I couldn't watch this scene when I was a kid without crying. (I still cry every time I watch it, even when I tell myself not to, except it's for a very personal, different reason.)
8. If I Never Knew You, Pocahontas
Historical accuracy aside, I still love this movie. Also, it's still the only movie I'm aware of that actually brought my mom to tears. (She was pregnant with my little sister at the time, her hormones were wacky. She still gets a lump in her throat when she sees the end, though.)
I included the scene from the special edition DVD, because I fell in love with this scene when they showed it on a TV special ... years ago, long before the special edition came out. I wasn't even in middle school yet. They were sketches, but the idea and the audio won me over. I can't imagine this movie without this scene included now.
John Smith is kinda handsome in this scene. Except nobody will ever top Kocoum. 6_6;
7. God Help The Outcasts, Hunchback of Notre Dame
My feelings towards God and whether or not the God I grew up with exists or not is still there, but this song is always going to be in the top ten somewhere.
6. I'll Make A Man Out Of You, Mulan
If you don't have this song on your list, put it on now. (I'm surprised this song made it and not Reflection, but I ran out of room and I had to make a decision.)
5. Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Beast
I had to put this in my top five. It's one of my favorite fairy tales, and I really enjoy what Disney did with it. I like the Celine Dion version too, but Sev (
sleepyscribbles) says it right: older ladies sing it best. :P
4. Can't You Feel The Love Tonight?, The Lion King
I don't even have to put an explanation for this. It's just my favorite romance song ever. <3
3. Out There, Hunchback of Notre Dame
This movie, along with Hercules, are a little special to me, since they were movies my dad and I went to see by ourselves. I saw this movie when I was ... seven or eight years old? I can't remember. Anyway, I immediately adored Quasimodo, so of course this song is high up on the list.
2. Go The Distance, Hercules
Uh, this is a pick-me-up song for me when I'm feeling low about myself. Also I love this movie because Hercules is my favorite Greek hero, and I like what Disney did with him.
(His face at 3:54 still cracks me up every time, by the way. LOOK AT THE FACE OF UTTER HORROR.)
1. Circle of Life, The Lion King
Favorite movie ever. <333
I doubt my top five favorites are going to change for a really long time. The others may change, but nobody can top the five for me.
On the plus side, at least I worked ten hours, and work for the next three days; I'm going to have a very awesome paycheck.
