Writer's Block: Sheldon and Penny 4ever!

[Error: unknown template qotd]

lol, Sheldon and Penny. I don't even watch that show and I knew who these characters were.

Well, I like fanfiction! It can lead to a lot of questionable stories and trends, but it's a fun pastime for fans. I wrote my share of it when I was younger, and once in awhile I'll read it if I find a good hook. I do believe fanfiction is a good way to introduce younger people to the idea of writing; once they get comfortable writing that, then maybe they'll consider writing their own characters! Or they won't, but they will learn to respect writers and their work.

This reminded me of the recent drama with Diana Gabaldon who openly complained about fanfiction. Dude! If I published my own series and I discovered someone was writing fanfiction for it, I'd love every minute of it. I'd be one of those creepy creators who lurked behind some secret account on FanFiction.Net and save all of these stories. How can you NOT love having a fanbase like that?

I would totally be the same way if I ever published anything. Seriously. Who could not love the idea of people loving your work that much?

I don't understand how anyone can hate it. I'd collect the stories! I'd love to see what other ships people would come up with! Too many possibilities to hate.

Yeah, I don't understand authors who don't want fan fiction of their work either. I mean, as long as no one is making money off it, who the heck cares? Not to mention it's really a badge of honor.

Hah. I used my "Sam + money" icon above just as I see this icon, so I'm using it again.

I don't understand it, either. I'd love every minute of it. I'd pat myself on the back and tell myself, "My work here is done. My life is complete. Carry on."

Who is Diana Gabaldon and why should I care.

I would like fanfciton if, y'know i published a book and blah blah what everyone else already said. I don't even care what the pairings are, we've already done pretty much all the crack possible XD

Diana Gabaldon is some author who published a series a few years ago. She's been ranting in her blog/livejournal about how writing fanfiction is just as horrible as white slavery. Uh. Yeah, I don't know. It's all on fandomwank.com, but I just heard that part and laaaaaughed until my sides hurt.

lulz, yarly. We've done everything under the sun. The only thing I'd dislike is if they turned our gay characters straight. Or put them with Mary Sues. Even then, it's just harmless fun that isn't worth getting angry over.
