To get prepared for my top 5 meme, I did one of my own choosing called "Top 5 Tearjerkers". (If anyone wants to suggest any other top 5 (whatevers), feel free!

I was in a funk all day today - mostly because I have a toothache that's been bothering me for weeks - and rather than looking for things to cheer myself up with, I looked up the moments that made me cry, for sad and happy reasons. Because apparently I need to sit in my depression for awhile when it hits me. I thought I'd put a list together because I always liked seeing what everybody's top 5 tearjerkers are, because everyone's lists are different, and because I thought about putting one together for awhile.

Obviously, spoilers are under this cut. There's Disney, Futurama, this anime called Clannad, Sailor Moon, and a Don Bluth movie.

Top 5 Tearjerkers

5. Sailor Moon: Usagi loses Chibiusa; Queen Nehelenia's Redemption

I feel like I'm cheating, because this is actually two things rather than one, but they're both in the same episode so there you go.

Everybody lists the deaths of the Senshi as their tearjerker in the entire series. To be honest, I only cried a) when Tuxedo Mask is stabbed in the back to save Sailor Moon in season one, and b) when Usagi loses Chibiusa and Nehelenia's redemption.

I don't even like Chibiusa that much, but seeing her fade away in Usagi's arms - and commenting on how warm her chest is - is one of the most depressing moments in this series. I'm not sure what does it for me: the idea of a mother losing her child, Usagi's voice actress sounding like she really is crying (in my opinion, the voice acting in this episode is excellent), everything Usagi had to go through just to go through that ... whatever it is, it's real to me and I can never watch this episode without crying.

The next part, Nehelenia's redemption, is also a tearjerker for different reasons. Even after she's lost Mamoru, her daughter and her senshi, Usagi was willing to sacrifice herself to ease Nehelenia's pain. She felt sorry for her. She assured her that the Senshi would be her friends and understand her. And even though Nehelenia did terrible things for selfish reasons, I wanted to give her a hug and give her the chance to start over.

(The beginning if the first video cuts off Saturn attempting to use her final attack on Nehelenia, but it goes to the scenes from there, starting from 1:55.)

4. Clannad: Ushio loses her toy in the field; About Nagisa

How about EVERYTHING IN THE CLANNAD SERIES?

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but when Clannad gets sad, it bums you out for a long time. Seriously, I watched this clip without even knowing what Clannad was about - I knew none of the characters, who I shipped, what was going on in this scene, nothing - and I instantly broke down when she cries in his arms and he tells her about Nagisa on the train and akgla;kga' you can't not watch this clip without wanting to initiate a group hug so everyone can stop crying and feel better.

I think this scene specifically is the big one for me, because I feel like I can sorta relate to how Ushio feels, or at least the first half of the video. (Although, nobody in my family abandoned me for five years, like Ushio's father did. :/)

3. An American Tail: Fievel reunites with his family

Since the ass user disabled the embedding code, I have to link it here.

I know the movie ends on a happy note, but I still feel anxious whenever I watch this scent. I want to scream, "HE'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU, THERE HE IS, DON'T RUN PAST HIM, OH GOD JUST UNITE ALREADY." And then they do. And I cry because I'm pathetic.

2. Disney: Baby Mine

Um, I would've picked Mufasa's death, but I've seen that movie so many times (I almost have it MEMORIZED in my head). WHile Mufasa's death is sad, I kinda expect it nowadays. but this tends to hit me harder than any other scene in Disney movies. There's a personal reason behind it, but overall this scene is really sad, since Dumbo can't be with his mother even though he wants to be. :(

1. Futurama: Jurassic Bark

Frankly, this is a really shitty clip of it. I'm a little annoyed YouTube doesn't have the actual one, but I finally found an acceptable clip so it's all right.

In this episode, Fry finds a fossilized dog on display at a museum exhibit. He recognizes it as his pet from the 20th century, Seymour, a stray dog he bonded with at the pizza shop. The entire episode is about Fry wishing to clone Seymour (and dealing with Bender's jealousy, but that's a long story in itself). By the end of the episode, Fry discovers that Seymour died at the age of 15, meaning he lived for twelve years after Fry was frozen. Fry aborts the cloning process, believing that Seymour moved on with his life and forgot about Fry.

The truth is ... well, you probably know how it ends.

I can't even watch this video without sobbing by the final shot. :(

Bawwwwww. I despise the Sailor Moon anime, but the Nehelenia Arc I do enjoy. That episode made me baw so hard the first time I watched it 8( (of course I bawed over Chibiusa because I adore her, but >_>;)

I think the Nehelenia arc is perfect for both anime and manga fans. She's a great villain; she can be psychotic and sympathetic all at the same time, which is hard to accomplish for any villain.

XD; Chibiusa grew on me a lot! I used to really dislike her, but she's gotten up there with a "eh, she's okay" for me. (My least favorite is Sailor Neptune now. I don't hate her - I barely ever hate characters because I try to like everyone - but idk, I just never cared for her. D:)

For a comedy show, Futurama had a few "sob my eyes out" moments for me. The end of Jurassic Bark being one of them. One of the other moments that made me cry was when Fry's brother named his son after Fry. That made me cry.

I never watched a lot of Futurama. It's one of those shows I watch when nothing else is on; it's a good show, but I don't really love it enough to be a fan.

Those two episodes are my favorite, even though they're the saddest episodes in the series. I didn't cry in the episode about his brother, but it was very sweet. D: Jurassic Bark hits me close to home more so than the other episode, because I have a cat that's exactly like Seymour (the loyalty, not the personality) and the idea of a pet like that being alone bums me out forever.

*lookit, it's an Invader Miraza invading your LJ again*

Goooooooooaawwd, Seymore got me so bad the first time I saw it.

He waited for you, Fry.

It still makes me cry like a total baby, man.

zomg hi! What's up? 8D

I never not cry at that point in the episode. Actually, just thinking about it chokes me up. :(
