samatethecookie: holy crap, I have this hairstyle now (did the wind sweep you off your feet?)
I had another insomniac evening/early morning, so I decided to redo this exercise. The last time I did this, it was in 2009 shortly before that nanowrimo. This time, I did it out of boredom.

Basically, you compile two lists before you write a novel: one list for things you believe make a good story/narrative, and another for the things that bore you or the things you simply hate too much to even consider.

I looked at my last lists back from 2009--for some reason, I'm the very first link that shows up on Google when I search "nanowrimo magna carta", even though I forgot I wrote that entry--and I hated the list I've compiled. I won't go into the details as to why these elements work for me unless someone asks, or if I wake up tomorrow and feel inspired to explain myself, but I thought sharing the lists would be fun.

2604 / 50000 words. 5% done!

For NaNoWriMo, I decided to go with some light and fluffy, somewhat dramatic plot, because I haven't had the time or patience to organize a clear and coherent plot structure. I'm concerned with seeing if I can accomplish getting a daily quota in for the project more than I am with quality. Quantity first, quality later. 8D; (Also, the plot has boy love. And an OT3. Fuck yeah.)

I started reading "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris. It is such a trashy read--don't tell me it isn't, because the line "THERE IS A JUICY ARTERY IN YOUR GROIN" totally did it--but I like it because Sookie Stackhouse actually kicks ass, unlike Bella Swan, and Bill is not the stalker that Edward Cullen was. I hope.

I love how my laptop gives me the blue screen of death, fails at system restore, and won't let me get into my desktop, the day before NaNoWriMo begins.

My last laptop went berserk and blew up on my birthday, too. At least it was two days in advance this time.

Oh, and Firefox on this computer? It keeps crashing.

So, yeah. If I'm not around as much, you know why. */headdesk.*

So, I'm signing up for NaNoWriMo once again! Because apparently I love torturing myself. And I'm doing good in my classes so far, so I think I have time for it. We'll see.

This is me. If anyone else is suffering through November with this project, add me so we can suffer together.

• I'm inspired to sign on for NaNoWriMo yet again. I should actually just wait to attempt it next year, or wait until the July challenge, but I have ideas in my head and I actually want to write them down. I love living under stress, don'tchaknow! Um, looking for anyone else who's thinking about doing this to suffer along with me.

• I finished most of the mini fanmixes! Here's the following complete so far: Beast Boy/Terra (Teen Titans), Mytho/Rue (Princess Tutu), Setsuna (Sailor Moon), Chibiusa/Hotaru (Sailor Moon), Sokka/Zuko (Avatar). I still have to complete Harold/Rhonda and Fakir/Ahiru. It turns out that while I ship these two ships, I don't know songs from the top of my head that fit these two. D: So ... I have to dig through my iTunes tomorrow. D: Feel free to download the songs! And if anyone still wants to make a request, feel free to spam me with more character and ships.

• I started on my path to watch K-ON once again! It's not the best anime ever, but it's cute and something light to watch!

• I-I have a Gopher icon. I don't even like him that much, but dammit, that face will forever haunt me. Also? Rainbows. (Um, Soul Eater fans, is there a reason why the fandom keeps calling him Waffles? O_o I'm very confused. When did he get this nickname?)

I decided to login to my old Livejournal account, and I found this list lying around in my account. It was based on this writing exercise to prepare people for NaNoWriMo in 2008. I found my list from that time. Some things are only a little different, so feel free to ask about anything.

What makes a good/bad novel... )

Edit: And before I forget, Tifa won the poll for Cloud's date! Hurrah! (Tifa and Yuffie were tied by 3 to 3, but I checked tonight and Tifa has 4 votes now.)
