I try not to bitch about English dubs before they're even produced, because giving things a chance is good, right?

But - why is Vic Mignogna playing Deathscythe/Spirit?

I fucking hate him.

At least he's not playing Death the Kidd - which a lot of fans wanted to see - but I still don't know who Todd Haberokorn is. Does anyone know who he is and what work he's done?

Oh, well. I'm going to sit in a corner and wonder over who's playing Crona and Maka. Anyone else, I can give or take. :/

Todd Haberkorn is best known for playing Kimihiro Watanuki in xxxholic, and Hikaru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club, both of which I've seen. :D I always thought he was pretty good in those, and I think he'll do a fine job as Kid!

Man, all this dub hate going around is kind of bumming me out, though. That post at shibusen is just brimming with anger. I just wish people would give it a chance. THEN if it sucks we can all gripe about it. XD;;;;; not complaining about you, btw. I just came from that post I mentioned and I'm still thinking about it, so it's about them, really. ;D

I ... have never seen either of those things, so I'm really clueless! Maybe I should look them up. I'm sure he'll be okay, though. I'm not really picky with how Kidd's going to sound, as long as the produced work still sounds close to how he sounds in my head in English. xD; If he sounds horrible, I'll be sad about it for two seconds and then get over it.

Don't worry, I know you don't mean me. For me, it's not the dub itself I'm worried about. I'm not crazy about English dubs, but I don't HATE THEM WITH A BURNING PASSION AND THINK JAPANESE IS ALWAYS BETTER. (Yeah, I saw the same post in shibusen. I think the "Japanese is automatically better and English sucks" without even hearing the voices is a lame elitist attitude to have.) I just hate Vic Mignogna, because he's made a lot of offensive comments that don't sit well with me at all, and I really can't imagine him fitting into the role of Death Scythe. It's a personal gripe, that's all.

I so weird with dubs like I tend to be more okay with them when I hear them first before I hear the original (Death Note being the exception), but if I know the series first then I tend to be less open to them?

But with Vic, he is one of those people whose reputation kind of sullied him as an actor, just once you have that association in your mind you just can't lose it you know.

That said, I wasn't big on the Ouran dub at all and I seemed to be one of those people who likes select actors in the Funi lineup but those actors are mostly for singular roles as opposed to their work as a whole, which is weird because everyone else swears by them as the best and I am just underwhelmed by them.

I think that's why I prefer the English dub of Full Metal Alchemist over its original Japanese version. I heard it first, and as much as I hate Vic, I can admit he plays an awesome Edward Elric. And what you've stated about Vic is true. He was good at Edward and I'm sure he was great with other characters, but it's hard for me to not get angry whenever I hear his name. And unfortunately my personal opinions on him blinds me to how good of an actor he is. :/

I haven't heard the Ouran dub. I'm tempted to look up a few clips just to see what everyone sounds like. I do agree with your opinion on the Funi lineup. Once they've been cast into specific characters and I've heard them, I can only associate them with those characters. I don't really understand why they're supposedly the best actors when I see exactly why they're the best. Ugh, does this paragraph make sense? I'm tired and I just got done using the exercise bike to the Mulan soundtrack, fuck yeah so I'm out of it. D:

Vic Whatshisface is such an ass, I hate him. And I really can't SEE it. Granted I'm not crazy about Deathscythe so I wasn't concerned about who was playing him, but the character got the shitty end of the deal. :/

I'm not as worried about Black Star as much as I'm worried about Maka. I've got a set idea of how Maka sounds in my head that I don't want that ruined.
