what's the problem, baby?
Mar. 24th, 2009 02:21 pmWe had an discussion about racism in my Woman's Creative and Performing class, in relation to a reading we're doing, and it's ... frankly, it's amazing how comfortable everyone is with each other and how open we were to share our stories, and it's even more amazing how one class can open up your eyes to things you've never noticed before. (Also, the professor told us about this book about White Privilege; a white writer stopped to think about what privileges she had and wrote a list of over 100 different privileges, such as having a bandage that looks like your skin color. I need to get that book; that thing about the bandage alone got me thinking.)
Oh. And randomly, I spoke to a stranger on the way home from school on the L. I accidentally bumped into her, sat next to her, and she started a conversation with me about her day. I really wish I had gotten her name. She seemed really nice. :(
Just checked by mid-term grades. Only two classes are up; one class is an A, the other is a C. Not bad, but I'm raising that C as soon as possible.
Despite all these nice things about today ... I can't WAIT until I go to sleep tonight. I am EXHAUSTED.
