samatethecookieSo after beating Final Fantasy VII, I sat down and put random thoughts together about shipping. Cuz, y'know, I was bored!
• So I discovered that I ship Barret/Tifa, because their scenes make me LOL and "aww" at the same time. He likes her when she's strong! She teases him when he can't walk up the endless stairway into the Shinra building! It's way too cute and I love it. Then I remember Cloud and feel guilty about shipping them. Then I settle for an OT3 - Barret/Tifa/Cloud - so everyone can be happy. I know it's weird, but I can't imagine Tifa without Cloud and vice versa, or Barret without Tifa OR Cloud. It's my first OT3 ever.
• I'm not crazy about the Turks. At the most, I find them hilarious, but overall, meh. (Except I think Rude's crush on Tifa is the cutest thing ever. Even if it breaks Reno's heart. I MEAN.)
• I hate Caith Sith, but I like Reeve. Maybe this is more of a popular opinion than I think it is, but uhm yeah. Reeve kinda pisses me off in disc one, but he definitely redeems himself in the second disc. He's cool in my book.
• I totally had no idea that Red XIII's grandfather dies after he visits the forgotten city. I have to admit, that broke me up more than Aeris's death. :( I didn't expect it at all.
• Reading But That Was In Another Country and reading Reno and Yuffie bounce off of each other helped me realize something: when I was younger, I shipped Reno/Yuffie. It's pretty much a fanon/crack pairing, if I'm right on this. I think I had my ships figured out when I was ... ten or eleven years old, except Yuffie was left out and I felt bad, so I slapped her into a pairing with Reno. Looking at the pairing now ... it's totally hotand I hope I was the first one to think of it. My ten-year-old self knew what she was doing. XD;. Bah. I wasn't. There's music videos and fanart and fanfiction. ... *will be busy for awhile.*
• I also shipped Sephiroth/Aeris when I was younger, because they both had the same awesome bangs I MEAN. You see nothing.
• No slash pairings. (Except the occasional Cid/Vincent, because it's fucking weird and the subtext exists!) I ship the ladies for the lulz, but never seriously, not even for a minute. I've been stuck in my ways about the characters, and none of them really strike me as gay or bi.
Except Genesis from Crisis Core. Uh, GAY. Come on. The guy walks around reciting poetry in every scene he's in! He wants to beat Sephiroth! Then he stalks Sephiroth and shows him an apple! The guy had it bad. I mean, okay, Sephiroth's a hot piece of ass, but y'know, he was kinda asexual even before JENOVA drove him batshit. ... How did this turn into Genesis/Sephiroth speculation?
• Speaking of slash pairings, Zack/Cloud is very, very wrong to me. I mean, for one, Zack always planned to go back to Aeris, and Cloud was dead-set on impressing Tifa and that's why he tried to join SOLDIER in the first place. It's just the canon I've loved since I was a kid that makes me D8 towards Zack/Cloud, because I don't see it at all. Also, it takes the friendship they do have and its importance and turn it into something it isn't and it kinda ruins the significance. (And the only guy I can see Zack go for is Angeal, and it's unrequited and Zack would never really know what to do about it even if he realized those feelings.)
• I used to ship Vincent/Lucrecia, but ... obviously that changed a lot. Lucrecia as a character annoys me even more now. I feel bad for her one second, then I think she knew exactly what she was doing and and I stop feeling bad for her. I think Vincent needs to realize that he had nothing to do with what happened to Lucrecia. He should stop punishing himself for a situation he had no control over in the first place, and pining after a woman who could never validate him without the guilt ruining everything.
Randomly, a lady bug just came out of nowhere and landed on my keyboard.
