I'm wishing for the one I love.

I got the Diamond Edition of Snow White. I hadn't seen this movie in years. The age showed, but I loved the movie. It's obvious how much work went into this film to make it possible. And I forgot how adorable Snow White is, even if she was a little dumb. It's obvious that they modeled Enchanted's Giselle off of her so much. And Grumpy is still my favorite out of the seven dwarves.
On the other hand, while I don't rage over the Disney princesses as much as anyone else does ... am I the only one who feels a little awkward knowing she's fourteen years old? (No, I'm not making this up.) I thought it made sense, given how naive she is in the film, but I was a little perturbed by the fact that she is whisked away to get married at the end of the movie. bb, you are too young. 8(
And the prince ... has to be the weakest out of all the Disney princes. He doesn't even have a name! (I keep getting him confused with Philip from Sleeping Beauty, but I remind myself, "Philip is the prince that fought a mother fucking dragon, y'all.") He just shows up for two song sequences, wakes Snow White up from her eternal sumber, then takes her away to live in his castle on a cloud. (If you don't get that reference and you claim to be a musical enthusiast, I am ashamed of you. Except not really; I'll just link you to the song.)
Overall though, I enjoyed it. I can't watch the bonus material, though. The Diamond Edition came with two Blu-Ray discs and alas, the bonus material is on one of those. And I lack a Blu-Ray machine and PS3, so I can't watch it. Sigh. I'll have to wait to see how they made the movie like the Disney geek I am.
But! Good news: Beauty and the Beast is coming out on Diamond Edition next year. meaning, I can finally have a DVD copy of the film. */FLAILS FOREVER!!!* Seriously, it is in my top five Disney films: The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Hercules tied with Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Fox and the Hound.Okay, so it's actually Top 6, but it sounded cooler the other way.
Dumbo is coming out on Diamond Edition next year too, but I'm not sure if I should get it. :\
Speaking of Disney, I'll end this entry with this note: there's this video game coming out for the Wii called Epic Mickey. It looks awesome.

Date: 2009-10-17 07:46 am (UTC)Hee. I know everybody likes Dopey, but meh, Grumpy's my favorite. He is awesomely pathetic at pretending he doesn't like affection. <3 Snow White, yeah, she is my least favorite compared to the other princesses, but she's still a step ahead of Aurora.
