2604 / 50000 words. 5% done!

For NaNoWriMo, I decided to go with some light and fluffy, somewhat dramatic plot, because I haven't had the time or patience to organize a clear and coherent plot structure. I'm concerned with seeing if I can accomplish getting a daily quota in for the project more than I am with quality. Quantity first, quality later. 8D; (Also, the plot has boy love. And an OT3. Fuck yeah.)

I started reading "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris. It is such a trashy read--don't tell me it isn't, because the line "THERE IS A JUICY ARTERY IN YOUR GROIN" totally did it--but I like it because Sookie Stackhouse actually kicks ass, unlike Bella Swan, and Bill is not the stalker that Edward Cullen was. I hope.

Hell yes, they can both work together in harmony. :D

I'm a little sad that my plot is a bit boring, though. I had this awesome idea for a fantasy with tons of action scenes, but I wasn't feeling it.

Mine is fantasy, but it isn't really action oriented, more like about this romance within a group of nomadic women. I have the different things up and down in my head, but it isn't the most thrilling thing ever.

Have you decided on whether you are going to post yours?

Ooh. It sounds really cool, though, what I've read from the novel info! But yeah, most of my ideas aren't really thrilling, either.

I probably won't post mine. It's based off a private universe that a friend and I work on, and I'm a little uncomfortable with the quality and the dull plot. xD; I might change my mind later, though. I'm only four-five pages in.

Exciting! I do enjoy boy love and OT3s. VERY MUCH SO!

I plan to bum copies of the Sookie Stackhouse series offa my friends at some point, but I haven't actually read any of them yet. I heard they start out pretty awesome for the first few books, but Harris kind of overloads them throughout the series with a shit ton of love interests for Sookie. Perhaps?

I haven't really dabbled with OT3s that much, but my idea for one is so ~fantastical~ and cute that I HAVE to write it, or else I'll burst.

Yeah, that's what I've heard about Sookie. My Internet wife/BFF told me Sookie, although she's definitely better than Bella, tends to attract a lot of guys. Even in chapter one, it's implied that another guy likes her, other than Bill. I'm not sure how it's going to play out in the book, though. :/ I think bumming copies off of friends is a good idea. I bought the first one at only $7.99, and I think I'll borrow the rest from the library in case I don't like them.

I like Sookie a lot more than I like Bella though. She has personality and spunk!

Also, since I've watched the show first and am pretty hooked, I get the feeling that I won't like the books as much. From what it sounds like the books are basically all Sookie all the time, and I do love Sook, but when I watch the show, I'm generally much more interested in all the side characters and their troubles.

Exactly! And at least she has an existing backbone. It's a refreshing change from some of the female protagonists that get paired off with the vampires.

It does seem to be all about Sookie. We only discover things about the side characters from her view, since the book is in first person perspective. Not that it's a bad thing! But I understand what you mean, because I usually end up falling in love with the side characters, or at least the characters that aren't within the main cast.

Also, apparently Tara is completely different in the books (and possibly doesn't even appear until the second one, so you probably have no idea who I'm talking about XD) and that makes me SAAAAAAAAD. Because Tara is <3333.

Unfortunately I have no idea who Tara is! I'm not sure how many characters are in book one, because I'm only on chapter two right now. But doi, that sucks. I hate it when that happens. SO CONFUSING. It's happened to me so many times in Sailor Moon that I just give up and go with the flow whenever it happens. :[

Bill is only slightly stalker-ish in the way that he seems to appear out of nowhere. Sookie yells at him though, she's not like Bella where she's like OH I MISSED YOU SO MUCH EVEN THOUGH I JUST SAW YOU 10 MINUTES AGO or whatever.

He's kind of like Cais or Stripes with the 'poof'ing XD

Well, I can live with him 'poof'ing out of nowhere! Edward took his stalking to an extreme extent. (Greasing Bella's windows so they wouldn't squeek as he snuck in to watch her sleep. Twilight means never having to say you're kidding. (http://cleolinda.livejournal.com/630150.html))

Heh, you think that line about the artery in the groin is odd, I read this P.C Cast book once. Granted the book has to do with mythology, but referring to the main male character's penis as "his lightning bolt" isn't going to do anything but send me into a fit of giggles.

LMAO. I think I've heard of lines like that! I love the jokes about lightning bolts in, um, certain areas. So perverted! XD
