Book #1
a) Why is the measure of love loss?

d) As I wrap my hair in a towel I see myself blurred in the mirror by steam and time seems to fold over onto itself and I see myself as a layering of all my previous days nad years and all the time that is coming and suddenly I feel as though I've become invisible.
e) He is coming, and I am here.

Book #6
a) The angel was cleaning out his closets when the call came.
b) "Got what?"
c) "So it's off to Antioch," Joshua said.
d) "Why?"
e) "Damn, I would have guessed Harvey," Biff said.

Book #7
a) It was November.
b) In the hush that followed, Miss Winter seemed to draw all of her external self into her core; under my very eyes she managed to absent herself from herself, and I began to understand how it was earlier that I had failed to see her.
c) He could walk faster than anyone, had grown used to finding himself walking into thin air and turning to find his walking companion scurrying along a few yards behind his back, panting with the effort of keeping up.
d) We hung about in the room, growing bored, then vexed by the curiosity that seeded itself in us despite our resistance.
e) He opened a cool green eye, regarded me for a moment, then closed it again.

Book #8
a) 1801 - I have just returned from a visit to my landlord - the solitary neighbour that I shall be troubled with.

So uh, guess away if you can! I'll screen comments just as [livejournal.com profile] escalove did so everyone can take a swing at it. (And if you're not sure about any of the books, but you're curious about them by the lines, let me know and I'll tell you privately.)

I especially had trouble with the last one, because it's a bit ... different from the rests, and I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Oh and some of those should be blatantly obvious, unfortunately. xD;
