Correct on all four. XD Especially #12. Maka's a close second--they're both equally tied--but Chrona is the one I play favorites with.

Well I figured Zuko is the obvious choice (and I laughed when my flist boggled when he turned out not to be mine), and I figured since you preferred Rue/Mytho to Fakir/Ahiru that that must be predicated a lot on Rue, Usagi I also used your ship preferences for.

And Chrona just came to me, see Maka is put in mine because she is pretty much my reason to read in terms of Soul Eater. But I adore Chrona too.

Haha, I wasn't surprised that Mai was your favorite. That would've been my guess if I got to your list in time. D: I love Mai too, but his Angst-ness and his dorkiness just won me over in season three. And it's true, usually my OTPs include my favorite characters ever.

To be honest, Chrona was the reason why I looked up Soul Eater. I saw Chrona in an animated mood theme--the one I have now--then saw the first opening for the anime and went, "Awww look at how adorable/weird looking you are. I AM IMMEDIATELY DRAWN YOU." And for the first few episodes, Death the Kid was my favorite until Chrona's first appearance. Then it sort-of took off from there. (Death the Kid's still a favorite of mine, because he's fucking insane and I love it; it's just that he, Chrona and Maka are sitting comfortable in the top 3 spots together.)

See Maka got me on the "Wait, you're saying a women is a shounen lead!" (I of course didn't know of the existence of Claymore at the time) so it kind of went there. I think Maka, Soul, Chrona, Ox, and Marie are all tied in the top for me. (So hard to choose)

I haven't seen all of the anime, only the first like 5 episodes, but I have caught up on the manga so there is that.

I admit part of my lack of putting Zuko on the top is that I have been a bit overexposed to his character type, so he wasn't really new to me, though I still loved him so.

Also I am deadly curious about who your favorite FMA character is!

I tend to fall for the bizarre/weird characters first, then notice the others later. Maka's a favorite of mine because of the reason you mentioned, and also because she's different from lead characters. She's not a prodigy like Black Star and she's not a perfectionist like Kid, but they both sort-of fangirl over her because she's just Maka and that's awesome enough. And she's also a book worm, which is neat for a shounen lead.

(I would've had Black Star as a favorite, since I like arrogant characters too, but he said/did a few things in both anime and manga canon that really bother me and I doubt he's going to be a favorite of mine soon. Which is strange, because I love Lightning from Teen Titans and he's just as stupid and arrogant as Black Star, but they're still different characters so.)

I'm still on the fence about Marie and Soul--I like them, but idk how they stand against my top favorites--but I love Ox! I hope we get more of him in the manga like we've been getting. Actually, I like that all the minor characters in Soul Eater get so much more attention in the manga and I adore them for it.

If nobody guesses at FMA anytime soon, I'll tell you! I really have to catch up with that series. I've only seen the first anime and one episode of the second anime, but I haven't tackled the manga series yet. I tend to watch the anime first and then get around to the manga later.

I would say you should read the manga before the second series because the second series is purporting to be closer to the manga. The manga and the first anime series from what I have garnered are completely different animals.

How does the first series treat Winry, because i have heard that the series kind of messes up her arc and also that it has a tendency to wallow in angst, and I would be interested in hearing the opinion of someone who likes it? (Most of my flist are manga fans and aren't really that fond of the first series).

Black Star will annoy me sometimes, but I actually really liked what was done with his character a while ago, and his realizing that Tsubaki is amazing helped improve my opinion of him. At least he knows what he's got is all I am saying.

I hadn't watched the first anime series in awhile, so I forgot most of what happened. I think it's been at least two years since I've sat down to watch it? DX I know the rough plot, but I forget the actions in between that lead to the conclusion. And I'm not familiar with Winry's original arc so I don't think I can judge whether or not they did Winry justice.

I will say that there is a lot of angst. I didn't have a problem with the angst, but I think it's because I sort-of expected angst just based on what I've heard about it? For me it didn't feel forced or that everyone was wallowing in angst, the timing/feelings seemed appropriate. But I didn't read the manga yet, so idk how different the tone is. I'll get to that when I'm finally out of school and have time for it.

That's what stops me from totally disliking Black Star. He does realize that Tsubaki is awesome, even when she doesn't see it herself. Their relationship is cute. And tall girl/short guy relationships just crack me up.
