I decided to delete the last entry. I hate posting angst entries. It makes me feel embarrassed later. :/ Sorry to you guys.

I picked up this meme from [livejournal.com profile] cheriestar, so I busied myself for a few minutes with these last night.

Comment here and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You have to repost this with your answers to the questions in your journal. Or you can do it here in the entry, whichever works.

01. The first character I fell in love with: Terra! She was the reason why I bothered watching the show. The other characters are cool, but she drove me to care about the show or what was even going on.

02. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Blackfire, because my friend [livejournal.com profile] evilwildlex played an awesome version of her, incorporating her original comic canon and intertwining it with toons canon. This is great, because I didn't like Blackfire's reasoning for hurting Starfire in the show.

03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Robin and Raven. Robin, because I'm not really crazy about the Bat family except for Batman himself. They're okay, but I don't understand the popularity surrounding the Robins. As for Raven, she grew on me in season four, and I like her now, but she doesn't do much for me by herself.

04. The character I love that everyone else hates: For awhile, Terra, because she got a lot of unnecessary hate. Lightning and Thunder, because the rest of the fandom finds them annoying but I think they're very endearing. (I'm biased, because I played one of them.)

05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: I have no idea!

06. The character I would shag any time: None of them, because they're either too young or not really appealing.

07. The character I'd want to be like: Cyborg, because he seems to know how to keep the Titans together without Robin, and he's very badass by himself. He loves waffles, too!

08. The character I'd slap: Robin when he grabbed Starfire roughly and was all "WHY DID YOU LET SLADE GET AWAY" and being an overall douchebag with everybody else in that one episode where he thinks he sees Slade who was dead at the time. :|

09. A pairing that I love: Beast Boy/Terra. I've already rambled about how much I adore the ship everywhere else in my journal.

10. A pairing that I hate: Kid Flash/Jinx. It's not so much the ship I hate as much as the lazy setup. Jinx should've came to a realization that a life of crime wasn't for her without a boy redeeming her. And why introduce a new character when an established relationship between Cyborg and Jinx already exists? (Also, hi, I'm a Cyborg/Jinx fan, how you doing.)Beast Boy/Raven also qualifies, due to the fanbase, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of Emo Girl/Goofy Guy ships anyway.

11. My five favorite characters: I honestly love nearly everyone! But my favorites are Terra, Starfire, Red Star, Gizmo, Lightning.

12. My five least favorite characters: Robin. Um. The leader of the Doom Patrol, because he was an asshole with Beast Boy. Kid Flash, because, again, lame setup didn't leave a good impression on me. UHHH THAT'S IT, I THINK.

13. Which character I am most like: [livejournal.com profile] titans_rating said Raven on the first time, and Terra on the second try. A mix of both? I'm not really sure!

14. My deep, dark fandom secret: I ship Brother Blood/Bumblebee. I'm going to that special place in Hell.

01. The first character I fell in love with: Usagi! I related to her a lot. She was a breath of fresh air; I grew up with Disney heroines that didn't seem to do much for me at a young age with the exception of Belle.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Chibiusa. I don't love her, but I don't hate her as much as I used to. She grew on me over the years. And Queen Nehelania, because her story just breaks my heart.

03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Neptune. She's not interesting. She's good at everything and doesn't seem to have any real flaws, which, to me, doesn't appeal to me.

04. The character I love that everyone else hates: Naru. Dude, anyone who is willing to risk death for their loved one - especially an average woman with no super powers trying to take electrified thorns out of her man's chest - is pretty fucking awesome.

05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: But I still love them all! I think.

06. The character I would shag any time: None of them.

07. The character I'd want to be like: Rei, because she's a pretty cool lady in the manga.

08. The character I'd slap: Mamoru, because he broke up with Usagi and broke her heart in the anime and made me cry over them. Jerkface.

09. A pairing that I love: Mamoru/Usagi is my forever OTP. Nephrite/Naru is one of them, too.

10. A pairing that I hate: OH, DEMANDO/USAGI, HOW I LOATH YOU. Oh, and the four generals and the inner senshi, because they were poorly developed and I can't see why Zoicite and Ami, of all people, would end up together. (Also, Kunzite/Zoicite are gay together! You can't shake me away from anime canon now. I sorta love how my initial reaction to Zoicite actually being a guy and not a girl was, "OMG REALLY? ... WHY WOULD THEY CHANGE THAT?!" instead of "omg ew they're both guys." Young me was cool.)

11. My five favorite characters: Usagi, Rei, Setsuna, Hotaru, and Makoto.

12. My five least favorite characters: Demando, Queen Beryl or whatever her name is, Uranus, Neptune, and I DON'T KNOW IF THERE'S A FIFTH.

13. Which character I am most like: Hahaha, I got compared to Usagi a lot as a kid because she's clumsy like I am. That's probably still true. (I don't get bad grades like she does, though, thankfully.)

14. My deep, dark fandom secret: I've never seen the end of the anime, because I don't want to. :(

01. The first character I fell in love with: At the very beginning? Probably Mickey and Minnie Mouse. In the animated films, Timon. Oh my God, did I love that character. I still have a toy figurine of him - or one of them, since I kept losing them and found 'em after Dad would buy me another one - on my book shelf. (The tip of the tail's missing because my late dog Spike bit it off.)

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Anastasia from the Cinderella movies. (She's the red-headed stepsister.) She's a jerk in the first movie, but I adore her in the sequels. She has insecurities and dreams and, surprisingly enough, a conscience. And she falls in love with a baker!

03. The character everyone else loves that I don't: Ariel. I don't hate her, but she's my least favorite Disney princess. Although I do think it's cool that she made an effort to go after her man and win his heart instead of waiting around for one.

04. The character I love that everyone else hates: God, I have no idea. I don't venture out into the fandom enough to know what they love or hate. Maybe the bird from Aladdin? He has an annoying comedian playing him, but I don't have a problem with him as a character.

05. The character I used to love but don't any longer: I don't think any of those exist. If I loved a character before, I still love them now.

06. The character I would shag any time: None. I grew up with these characters on my television screen. D: Okay, maybe Kocoum if he was real. He can build me sturdy walls without a shirt on any time. Yep, nobody at all.

07. The character I'd want to be like: Tiana. I wish I can be driven like her. I mean, I have goals and I know where I need to get to, but I hope I can stick with them. Oh and Mulan, because she fights good.

08. The character I'd slap: CRUELLA, YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL PUPPIES. HOW DARE YOU.

09. A pairing that I love: If I had to pick one, Hercules/Meg. If I'm going to pick more than one, throw Beast/Belle into that along with Simba/Nala.

10. A pairing that I hate: John Silver/Jim Hawkins. Imagining them in a romantic relationship sorta creeps me out, because technically Silver was the father figure Jim always wanted/needed, or the closest to it.

11. My five favorite characters: Belle, Tiana, Timon, Hercules, and Mulan.

12. My five least favorite characters: Mr. Personality - I mean, Will from Pirates of the Caribbean, if we're counting that. Ariel out of all the Disney princesses. Tinkerbell; even though I like her new image and character, I think it's too late to take back the Disney Brat image surrounding her. As for villains, Cruella deVille and Frollo because (a) one of them wanted to skin puppies and make fur coats out of them, and (b) one of them was a religious nutcase that wanted to murder a woman because she wouldn't sleep with him. (Frollo has the best villain song out of the bunch, though, next to Scar's "Be Prepared".)

13. Which character I am most like: Most likely Belle, because everyone think she's an oddball and she's the only Disney lady who reads. And maybe a bit of Hercules, because I can understand his insecurities and his need to belong somewhere, even though that place was right in front of him all along.

14. My deep, dark fandom secret: I like AU redeemed!Gaston/Belle when Beast isn't in the picture at all.

PICK ME!!

Also I really get you when it comes to Chibiusa. While I use to really dislike her (mostly because I used to loathe the trope that she embodies, see also my initial dislike of Dawn from Buffy) and while she still isn't really close to my favorite character I have pretty much grown to really respect her but mostly in manga form because she stays as a supporting character where they pretty much made her the star of the SuperS season in the anime which I wasn't quite cool with, however I really groove on Chibiusa/Hotaru which is pretty much my second favorite ship after Rei/Minako.

Also I say cheers to your dislike of Senshi/Generals, it was one picture and well the generals are all either in love with Endymion or each other.

OKAY. UMMMM. Full Metal Alchemist, X-Men Evolution, and Black Lagoon? If you want any of those fandoms to change, let me know. (I'm only somewhat familiar with Black Lagoon, but I tried to avoid obvious fandoms like Avatar and Gundam Wing.)

I disliked Chibiusa because frankly, I don't like how future children get incorporated into canon to prove Mamoru and Usagi live happily ever after. I'm a fanon shipper as well and I don't like having to work around endgame like that; I end up feeling bad for the future kid that possibly dies because their parents don't get together. xD;; I seriously bawled my eyes out when Chibiusa fades away in Usagi's arms because the future was drastically changed in the Sailor Stars season.

Chibiusa/Hotaru is so sweet. I think I grew to like Chibiusa because of her relationship with Hotaru. Everyone else - okay, the outer senshi - wanted Hotaru dead, but Chibiusa was determined to stand by her and make the others realize that Hotaru was a person, not just a weapon that needed to be destroyed. She had so much faith in her.

Yyyeah, one picture alone isn't going to change how I feel about the generals or the senshi. I guess Jedite (or however you spell his name) felt an attraction for Rei, and Minako had lingering feelings for Kunzite in the Moon Kingdom, but we don't get any other hints from the canon. And I like to think that they're aware of the past, it's just that they don't feel that way about them anymore due to the paths they picked and chose.

LOL, Endymion and his generals are like Usagi and her senshi; an epic orgy of magical love. I'd buy it!

No those are fine and new!

I agree, though I think that that was more of a thing for me in the anime due to the whole Mamoru and Usagi realizing love when their past lives are revealed whereas in the manga they feel attraction and begin to reciprocate before that, so Chibiusa's entrance in the anime was just like "SEE THEY ARE TOTALLY DESTINED", whereas in the manga since Usagi and Mamoru's relationship was stronger it wasn't as forced.

I think for me was that she grew, I have this thing where I can really appreciate growth in a character and she is at an age where she has so much potential to grow up, I respected her more when it became realized that she wasn't just a copy of Usagi. I love that she is a little bit selfish, a little more insecure, and a little less 'perfect' then Usagi in ways that are more addressed in the text. Also what made her grow on me was the fandom's harping on her for being all pink, because I love and a defended another character who was derided for having pink things. I admit a character being bashed makes me more sympathetic to them.

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
That's true, too. I think Mamoru and Usagi had a slap-slap-kiss attraction going on before their past lives were revealed - which is partly why I loved them before I figured out they knew each other in a past life, because I was a dense nine-year-old and I missed the introduction to the series that explained this - but they certainly needed time together to realize they were destined for each other rather than having a kid show up to prove that. And it always bothered me that none of the characters were unhappy or cautious about their determined future.

I admit a character being bashed makes me more sympathetic to them. I can understand that. I've teased characters before, or blasted them privately, but I really can't stand how fandoms go after a specific character. Chibiusa definitely gets the worst end of it in the Sailor Moon fandom. And hating her because she's pink is silly, because pink's just a color! XD; I still can't make sense how Usagi and Mamoru had a kid with pink hair, but whatever.

Well Sailor Moon's genetics is weird all around so I don't worry about that.

I don't know if it is just that I am not actually into the slap slap kiss thing anymore or was never that big into it in the first place that colors a lot of that for me. I only ship them in PGSM, but there it isn't really slap slap kiss at all except for maybe in the very beginning but PGSM is weird.

I don't know, I have just loved way too many hated characters that I can sympathize with fans of hated characters that I don't like and then I end up taking their arguments seriously which gives me fondness for a character.

Date: 2010-02-06 09:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Hahah, I've always liked slap slap kiss tropes. Nowadays it's such a common cliche, but I still adore ships with some sort of conflict between each other, or the potential for it. And I've never seen PGSM! I really ought to look up the episodes for that, because from what you told me about Mamoru and Usagi, their relationship is pretty awesome in the series.

I've gotten attached to one or two characters because of fandumb like that. Some of the reasons are SO STUPID that I can't help but feel defensive for hated characters. And even if there are legitimate reasons to dislike a character, people really need to stop and consider that these characters they hate aren't real people and what they're doing isn't directly affecting their lives. :\

I'm kind of amused that you don't like Tinkerbell because of her bratty attitude. Mainly because my mom loves that character because of that. I told her Tinkerbell is less of a brat now in the new movies and my mom's like "aw, but that what was the best part of her."

Date: 2010-02-06 04:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Everyone else in my house that's a girl loves Tinkerbell for her bratty attitude! I'm the only one around here who hates her. I just think Disney outplayed the bratty and obnoxious side of her way too much and it's too late to take any of it back. It wasn't so bad in the original movie! It just pains me that they made her the official Disney Brat and took it too far.

Ooh, I'd love it if you picked some for me. I need a reason to update. XD;;

Also, haha, I was probably one of those people in the BB/Raven fanbase that turned you off (if we're talking about the fairly distant past and not the present, that is; I was like fourteen-fifteen, so five years?) Teen Titans was my first fandom ever, and I was kind of a HUGE BRAT back then over my pairings and the Terra-hate and such. It's really embarrassing to think about now. XD;; Even though I still ship BB/Raven lots, I think Terra is absolutely adorable and I want to give her hugs all the time because oh, my poor baby. ;____;

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Okay! :D Since you talked a bit about Teen Titans, I'd love to see your thoughts on it. And maybe Princess Tutu and Soul Eater? If you want any other fandom, let me know.

LOL. I was a huge brat when I discovered Teen Titans, too. I think we all go through that awkward phase where we take our ships so seriously that we hate on anything or anyone that threatens that ship. I couldn't be friends with anyone who shipped BB/Rae, because it MADE ME RAGE irrationally. (That and I was just a brat in general. I hate thinking about those years. D:) I still don't like BB/Rae, but it's more to do with their dynamic than fandom nowadays. I can see why people like it, though!

Terra is very adorable! And completely sympathetic. What she does to the Titans and everyone else is terrible, but you understand why and you just end up feeling bad for her and wishing for the best. :( I always want to hug her whenever I watch the show.

I'm with you there! I didn't get to play with your Cyborg very long, since I entered the game late, but I stil <33'd him like crazy. I really miss RPing Starfire and the others, too.

We had a decent cast. Miss it sometimes like whoa. Playing a big brother to Terra was great fun.

I may enjoy playing Wykkyd, but I get better fun from Cyborg, admittedly.

I was a little sad that the game started to dwindle when I joined, but the little bit we've done together was fun.

I loved your Wykkyd. <3 I always wanted to see how he and my See-More would've bounced off each other. And I get you, because Cyborg is...well, Cyborg! He has a lot of potential to be a fun character in a game.

Wellll you know, I play Wykkyd at The Wake now. I'd love a See-More. Especially considering the HUGE CHANGES Wykkyd has taken on.

Cyborg was definitely fun. One day, I will find him a new home.

ooooh. :D I can't make any promises, but that's a tempting idea! I've been wanting to start RPing on LJ again, especially with the Titans.

I'll pick a few fandoms! I think you did a sort-of meme like this with Disney and Final Fantasy, so I'll ask you for Bleach, Kingdom Hearts, and the fandom Beatrice is from that I can't remember the name of for the life of me. DX If you want anything else, let me know.

I LOVE this mood theme so much! <33 You should finish it up. The near end of it does get a little weaker, but it still has a lot of great moments.

Just... YES. I agree with you on so many aspects here - I don't hate Chibiusa, I highly dislike Neptune, I HATE Tinkerbell, and Rei is effing awesome. And I also agree with you on the Jim Hawkins/Silver pairing; I never, ever understood the appeal there. When I first heard about it I actually thought it was a joke and was like WOW WHAT IS THAT
It seems so... ajklsjfdl;aj wrong to me :|

I must admit that I love Ariel, but I see where you're coming from. As a character I think she is a cute idea, but the fact that she pretty much... literally transformed herself to be noticeable to a guy she likes is kinda... eh, probably not the best idea? I never noticed that as a child, but that occurred to me when I was older and it made me like her a little less.

Can I do this meme as well..? 8'D

Date: 2010-02-06 09:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
The Jim/Hawkins/Silver ship is so wrong to me. The whole movie is based on Jim's angst over his father, and his memories of his old man gets intertwined with whatever Silver's showing him what to do, and I'm like, "This is...not a romantic relationship. It just isn't. I'M SORRY, BUT IT'S NOT, WHERE DID YOU SEE THAT?" and I flail. xD;

As a character I think she is a cute idea, but the fact that she pretty much... literally transformed herself to be noticeable to a guy she likes is kinda... eh, probably not the best idea? I think that's partly the reason why I don't really love Ariel. Even when I was younger, there was something about her and the movie I didn't really like, and I didn't figure it out until I was older. :/ And the original Little Mermaid fairy tale depresses me.

Sure! I'd like to see more about your thoughts on Sailor Moon. Maybe Disney and Revolutionary Girl Utena? (I know Utena! I haven't finished that series, though. D:)

*needs a pretty sparkly icon*

I never really got the Chibiusa hate and why she was hated, I didn't even know that fandom hated her as much as they did and I'm not in it! I thought, yeh she's a brat but who isn't as a kid? Although her whole thing about wanting to marry Mamoru was... interesting.

Thank god I'm not the only one who finds Neptune boring. I think Uranus is boring too but at least she brought some interesting conflict.

Oh man generals/senshi... WHERE'S THE CONNECTION? And I always suspected as a kid that Zoicite's shoulders were a little too big for lady shoulders.

I've never seen the end of the anime, because I don't want to.... WHAT

Date: 2010-02-06 08:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
I can somewhat understand why people dislike her - especially since she crushes on her own father, which is sickening - but I think fandom took their hate too far with her. Yes, you don't have to like her, but she's a kid! Of course she's annoying, but part of her annoying behavior was because she was so far away from home. :\

Yeah, Neptune is very dull by herself. I kind of don't understand why a lot of fans like her. And Uranus isn't my favorite character either, but I do think she has more personality than her counterpart. (And I'm probably one of the only Moonie fans who doesn't cream herself over Uranus/Neptune, because usually if I don't like a character, I don't care about ships involving them.)

Generals/senshi have some small hints, but that's all we get. Oh and there was one picture drawn by the artist herself where the generals are embracing the inner senshi. That's it! We don't even know much of the generals' personalities in the manga, so I depend a lot on the anime for their characterization. And since I love Nephrite/Naru too much to imagine him with anyone else, that adds another reason why generals/senshi are boring.

I KNOW HOW IT ENDS, BUT I DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT'S OVER. It makes no sense. xD; I'll get around to it, but I haven't seen the end of the series at all.
