OH MY GOD.

I can't beat Cid Raines for the life of me. I just can't. Just...what the fuck am I doing wrong?! I can't cast slow on him because he's just going to cast haste on him after his metamorphosis, I can't stop healing myself straight after he transforms because he keeps beating the crap out of us, and the summons do NOTHING to damage him/get him into stagger mode.

I guess I have to give my weapons some EXP, but ugggggh I have no gil to buy the mechanics needed to do that because you know why? Some chuckleheads are Square-Enix thought it was a better idea NOT to give out gil after the battles, that we should just sell things we don't need anymore to get them! But uh. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? What if you run out of things to sell?! Who the fuck came up with that fucking idea?!

ugh. I'm so frustrated. I'm half-tempted at this point to just start the game all over and rework my way through it, or do nothing but fight around the area for an hour and come back to Cid later and see if that helps any. uggggh I am so frustrated right now.

oh man he was a right bitch to take down, heres what i did to beat him

I used Fang, Hope and Lightning and I used these paradigms
Evened Odds - (Sab,Syn,Med) to start
Relentless Assault - (Com,Rav,Rav) when he guards or heals
Discretion - (Com,Med,Med) after he uses special attacks like that seraphic ray
Ruthless - (Sab,Rav,Com) to recast slow, though I didn't use this as much
Diversity - (Com,Med,Rav) when his HP is slow

Yeah I had to be really tactical for this fight. I had to keep telling myself DON'T BE A HERO since I like to go in guns blazing haha. It probably won't get you a huge score at the end but it worked for me.

And goddamn I hate the summons in this game, they really do FUCK ALL

Sadly I've been using Fang, Hope and Lightning and basically the same tactics you've used. I debated on finding a way to get Sazh in my party because HE HAS HASTE and Vanille because SHE HAS CURE TOO, but nope, that's going to be impossible because I need Lightning and Fang's strength to win this battle.

I'm honestly debating on having my characters run around for a bit and get into battles and try and see if someone else can get haste, but I have no patience! Fortunately I discovered that I can sell a few of my components that only earn your weapons, like...one experience point, for near $50,000 gil. So I can buy stuff to level up my weapons. It's just going to be a pain in the ass to do. D:

THEY DO. I'm convinced that the summons are only really there to look pretty. I used Odin when Cid was near death, and that didn't lower his HP at all! IT'S FUCKING ODIN. He can kill people with one strike! And I went through a huge headache just to win the battle against him.

I suppose it depends on what you've gained in the crystarium too. Even though Hope's the weakest I use him a lot because he's a really quick medic haha.

You can always use fortisol and aegisol before the fight if you've got them to give yourself a slight advantage at the start.

I don't even bother with the summons anymore, I don't even think they're that pretty. They're just shinier transformers heh.

That's...probably it. Most of their active crystariums are at level three except for their very last one. I should level up Hope's Medic before I rush into battle. Oy, when they said the game was going to get difficult later on, they weren't kidding.

I have one of those! I used it. It helped a lot. It's a good thing they sell those in the store.

IDK. I think the summons are pretty even as transformers, but I'd appreciate them more if they actually did something. :\
