I was thinking about buying Sailor Moon DVDs until I realized (1) most of the DVDs out there are either too expensive or bootleg, and (2) Funimation put out a survey in 2009 asking their fans which project they should work on next, and a possible re-dub of Sailor Moon was included on the list.

Now, I don't think this is impossible. Already an international revival is underway. A new, remastered Sailor Moon series just premiered on Italy television this March! If Funimation is showing an interest, then it could be possible that the English license can be renewed, which really needs to happen because it's been, what, five years? If it is possible to renew at this point? Books! DVDs! Movies! Music! They're going to be available to the western fanbase. That'd be awesome.

So, I'm hoping and praying that this happens sooner or later. If they can put Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nicktoons and call it a new series, then I'll fucking buy it for Sailor Moon so long as I get my proper English dub and DVDs.

(Also, if the guy who sounds like Edward Elric in every single role he picks up has to be in this series? He should be Jadeite. Then he'd be the first one to die! OMG YES THIS HAS TO HAPPEN NOW.)

Edit: Totally not related to this whatsoever, but apparently you can buy a package on LJ that gives you 210 icons? so expensive but OMG DO WANT.

I wouldn't necessarily want a dub (as I probably wouldn't watch it), just get me high quality subs and DVDs and that would be enough for me. Also bring over Stars finally would be nice so I can unload my crappy fansub tapes.

Well, part of the reason why I do want the dub is so we can get high quality subs and DVDs. That would save fans a lot of money, instead of having to pay $100+ for one season. A proper dub is only a bonus. :/

I don't really care who they get to play which character, so long as they don't screw everything up and they stay true to the series, unlike DiC. Voices, music, et cetera, I could care less, as long as they leave the characters themselves alone, y'know?

See, maybe it is just that I don't watch dubs anymore, and I am one of the few people who doesn't actually like Funi's acting pool save select actors, I am more partial to the Vancouver and LA pools of actors than Funimation's but I am kind of alone in this regard for a lot of things. That said high quality DVDs and subs, and finally getting Stars would be a boon. Although I wonder whether it would work, because as I understood it, it was never the North American side that was the problem but the Japanese and how freaking expensive the rights were, and I am wondering if something has changed in that regard.

I don't really know enough about Vancouver or any other place to be able to tell the difference--right now I'm just thinking more along the lines of "dude, that's fine, just anyone but these guys, please, or any of those other shitty companies"--but I do notice that Funi tends to use a lot of the same actors over and over. (Example: Vic Mignogna. Ugh. I swear, he has the same voice in every character he plays. That and he's a jerk and I hate him.)

I haven't thought about the expenses the North American side would have to pay for the rights to dub Sailor Moon. I don't imagine why Funi wouldn't be able to afford it. Getting Sailor Stars season into the U.S., I mean. A lot of things can go wrong with this, but I'm just hoping that we'll get a chance to buy the season on DVD.
