Well! I'm going to get started on these 30 Day Memes.
The first one is a general shipping meme I took from
escalove/
qwertyuiop and the second one is an anime meme I discovered a few weeks ago. Instead of doing one prompt at a time, I'm going to try and squeeze in three, because I've seen a few people doing it that way, and it's going to be easier for me to complete them this way. YES, I'M CHEATING. Overlook that, please.
1. Favorite het pairing (Mamoru/Usagi, Sailor Moon)

Yes, I reused an image from the previous 30 Day Meme attempt. Shut up, I had to do it because I'm extremely lazy.
These two are my Forever OTP. I loved them ever since I was nine years old. They were my first slap-slap-kiss ship. They were the first ship that ever made me cry when I thought they weren't going to get together. They were the ship I ever felt fannish about and willing to defend against anyone who thought their relationship sucked. (Um. I still do. YOU WANNA FIGHT ME?) Although I've grown to love other fanon ships, I still think Mamoru/Usagi is the coolest ship ever, and nothing's going to change my mind.
2. Favorite yaoi pairing (Kurogane/Fai, Tsubasa)

Um, I have a few m/m ships that I really love, but the only one that stands out in my mind at the moment is Kurogane/Fai, because CLAMP has a tendency to write really good m/m relationships. (Also, it should be fairly obvious that I enjoy 'opposites attract' and 'slap-slap-kiss' tropes very much. No apologies.) I really adore the idea of them together. I like how Kurogane gets annoyed with Fai and suspects that he's hiding something, and I like how Fai teases the ever-loving shit out of Kurogane with embarrassing and affectionate pet names. Honestly I abandoned the series awhile ago, but I'm thinking about picking up the manga again just because of these two.
3. Favorite yuri pairing (Anthy/Utena, Revolutionary Girl Utena)
I would've placed Nana/Hachi from NANA on this list if it wasn't for the series being abandoned and taking a completely drastic turn from what it used to be. And as of recently, these two filled the spot for me. I...can't even begin to explain my love for this ship. It would take me all day. Actually, explaining the entire series (or Anthy Himemiya by herself) would make my head spin. It's just one of those ships you have to see for yourself. So instead of an image, watch this video.

Day 01 - Very first anime: Sailor Moon

Of course, this is my answer. I watched this show when I was nine years old, before I even realized what anime was, and it's still one of my favorite shows. Yes, it has its flaws, and I can see why a lot of fans prefer the manga over it, but I still love it and I'm holding out on the dream that it's going to get the English dub it deserves someday so I can buy the DVDs.
Day 02 - Favorite anime you’ve watched so far: Full Metal Alchemist

Obviously I'm referring to the Brotherhood anime and the manga itself. Let's face it, you guys: the first anime suffocates you with needless angst, manpain and pessimism. It takes such a drastic turn from what the series was supposed to be that it may as well be a doppelganger of Arakawa's original works. (Not to mention that it neglects majority of the female characters such as Riza and Winry. Also, a lot of important, awesome characters were left out of the first anime.) It's not horrible, but it isn't a very satisfying series when you finally reach the end. Everything the first anime isn't, Brotherhood makes up for that. I'm not saying that Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood/the manga series is the perfect narrative, but it's close.
Day 03 - Your anime crush: Wufei Chang, Gundam Wing

I...don't crush on anime characters anymore, but I do remember the last character I used to write personal, extremely embarrassing Mary Sue fics about, in which I paired my self-insert off with him.
I-It was Wufei Chang from Gundam Wing.
I don't understand it. Don't even ask me what I saw in him. I haven't watched the show in years and I doubt I'm going to remember exactly what I saw in him. Yet, even though I barely remember the show or any details about him, I still feel a little of a fannish squee inside of me whenever I see him.
Stupid sexy Wufei.

Date: 2010-08-31 08:29 pm (UTC)Long haired Anthy is so pretty; I always preferred it, too. I think it's because when she puts her hair up, she looks a little older than she really is? She's very pretty either way, but I always liked it when she took her hair down.
I have mixed feelings about Touga/Utena. Like, I really don't like Touga in the anime, but in the movie, their scene together in the elevator makes me want to cry.
God, I love the dancing scene, even before I watched the series. <3
