oh my god, I finally finished "My Sister's Keeper" and the ending was so terrible. Here I actually wanted my cliched Lifetime movie ending just to see the story get better, but I can never have nice things. I can't believe it's being made into a movie, that's how bad I thought it was. :/

Also, Sev, you need to stay out my dreams when I'm taking naps, not this time, though; we were badass and killed zombies.

I read somebody write in a personal review of the book that she felt like she was emotionally manipulated from beginning to end. I think that's what happened in the story; at least we know what Picoult's good at, I guess. D:

Another thing that bothered me was how much the family loved Kate over Anna -- well, how much her mother loved one over the other anyway. When Kate gets leukemia, her mother thinks of anything possible to keep this poor girl alive. But as soon as Anna gets in a car accident and is classified as "brain dead", everyone doesn't waste a second grieving over the news, go "OH HAI KATE NEEDS A KIDNEY" (Campbell of all people said that, wtf), and her mother immediately takes her off life support. :\

Yeah I did feel emotionally manipulated too. And yes, I had some major issues with the mother. She SO favoured Kate over Anna, didn't even think of names for her, or care that she was hers, just what she could do for her sister. And yeah, I hated how at the end it was all like "OH well we'll just harvest her organs now" O.O And the fact that the author makes such a big deal about how Kate may never have the chance to find love, have kisses, date etc (well she does that but you know what I mean) and then we have poor Anna who goes on one date and dies before she's even kissed. :( It's so sad. :( I was rooting for Anna to actually get to be someone besides this harvest tool for her mother, and then she just dies at the end. :( And the whole friendship she develops with Campbell and stuff is just...gone...it doesn't matter anymore. It's so stupid. :(

That's upsetting, too -- Kate SUFFERED and wanted to let go, whereas Anna always had to give up her life and her wants because her mother was too blind with anxiety to let go of Kate. It just got me really pissed that after Anna fights for her right over her own body, it doesn't matter in the end anyway. The poor kid was thirteen years old, versus her older sister at sixteen with leukemia. Not to say that one deserves to live over the other, but akglakjgjmga auuuuuuugh, so much hate.

Funny thing is, Jodi Picoult's going to be in Chicago, around the Borders I frequent, in ... March, I think. I'm tempted to show up just go yell "HOW COULD YOU?! I TRUSTED YOU" really, really loudly. :D;
