I'll try and give you guys prompts tonight or tomorrow. I work the circus all. day. tomorrow. With kids. Starting at 9AM. And I don't think I get out until 10PM. Help. :(
Give me something to talk about; I have both no shame and a lot of spare time, so give me any fandom-related topic you like, and I'll turn on my metaphorical microphone and then write up the result.

Date: 2010-11-18 06:16 am (UTC)I'm mostly going to go with the show, but I might throw in some comic canon since I read a little bit of that, too.
1. The main reason why I became interested in the show was Terra. I watched a few episodes of the first season, and while I thought they were cute, I just didn't really think much about the show. Then I saw the season two episode "Terra". Even though it was the near end of it, I was so fascinated by Terra and her arc. I wanted her to be able to have control over her powers, her life, and gain what she never had, which was confidence in herself and the friends that she genuinely needed.
It always upset me whenever anyone attacked Terra as a character, or tried to argue that she deserved to die because she betrayed the Titans, that she got in the middle of Beast Boy and Raven, or many reasons that just made no sense. Honestly, I could understand why Terra felt that she had to turn to Slade for help. I'm not saying she's excused from her actions against the Titans, because it was still a horrible thing to do, but everyone forgets that Slade watched Terra for a long time and waited until she was vulnerable to manipulate her. Nobody blames Slade for what happened. Yes, Terra should've realized he was a creep, but really, think about it: she's probably not even sixteen years old, she feels that she can't go home, and she was at the roughest point of her life when Slade came along, and that's why I'll always come to her defense. Terra may have betrayed the Titans and nearly killed them, but she wouldn't have done it if it weren't for Slade swooping in when he did.
Uh. There's more reasons as to why I love Terra and why she pulled me into the show, but I'm not going to repeat myself. There's more about my feelings for the character somewhere over here (http://www.formspring.me/samatethecookie), plus what I thought about her relationship with Beast Boy and why I begrudgingly agreed that Things Change was a fitting end for them.
2. Minor characters need more love. Seriously, there's so many other Titans other than the main five and I feel like fandom never really focuses on them. Like, I looooove Lightning and Thunder, Argent, Punk Rocket, and Gizmo to name a few.
3. I have a love/hate thing going on with the canon ships. I do like some of the canon ships, I really do, but I'm not in love with them. Beast Boy/Terra and Cyborg/Jinx were two of the only (somewhat) canon ships that I reaaaally loved. The rest, I could do without. (Although I'm slowly starting to love Robin/Starfire again. I'm still not a huge fan of Robin himself but he's at his best when he's with her.) Especially Kid Flash/Jinx because THAT SHIP IS THE WORST. It's one of the only ships that pisses me off in any fandom. It was a lazy setup, I despised how Jinx suddenly hated her team and how she was wooed over to the good side because of one boy, and I really wanted to see the canon acknowledge that she and Cyborg had a connection.
Admittedly, Teen Titans is one of the exceptions where I will openly love a crack ship more than an actual endgame ship in the narrative, without shame. xD; Between me and a few friends, we've created several ships that I adore more than the canon ships beyond all logic.
4. I hated what they did with Rose Wilson in Teen Titans Go! They were on the right track, but I didn't like how quickly she went from working for Slade to O OK I JOIN TITANS NOW. Rose is an interesting character--one of my favorites!--and she deserved a more extensive backstory and conclusion to her plot than that.
5. The fandom is the worst. Seriously, the shipping wars may not have gotten as bad as Harry Potter or AtLA, but it's unique in the sense that there's too many ships for people to argue over to begin with. Also, the majority of the m/m slash is extremely overwhelming to sift through when you're trying to find good f/f slash fic or art. :/
Uh. That's it. For now. Seriously, I can talk about Teen Titans forever.
