we're just misguided ghosts.
Mar. 12th, 2011 09:56 pmDragon Age 2 is fun! Is it the first one? No, but it measures up pretty well as a stand alone game. (Although I will admit that the game is definitely set up for those who played the first one plus Awakening. I'm afraid of Awakening spoilers because I've yet to buy and play through it yet so I'm trudging through it cautiously. D:)
I'm in Act 2 so far. I've barely started it since I'm doing nothing but playing the side and companion quests first. That and I just haven't had the time or interest to really sit down and play through it. LIKE TONIGHT. I OUGHT TO BE PLAYING IT BUT MY SISTER HAS FRIENDS OVER AND THEY TOOK OVER THE CONSOLES FOR THE DAY. (Yes, I am making angry faces at the back of your head, sis. SO HARD.)
My scattered thoughts on it thus far. Mostly related to the romance because haw haw who cares about plot. (I do care, honestly, especially about the stupid Chantry and how much I feel sorry for the mages, but the characters and the romance options are my favorite parts of the game.)
+ I have to wonder, is Merrill available for both male and female Champions? Because I've been trying to get some options to flirt with her and they're...non-existent. None of them showed up until her Questioning Beliefs was available. I didn't try to do it because by then I was already working the socks off of Anders, but seriously, if Isabela is the only one available for lesbian action, I will be pissed. It's not that I don't love Isabela, but Merrill is adorable and I earned a friendship with her fairly quickly. Baw, I just wanted my lesbian action. :<
+ My close second was Fenris. I love him! The few flirting I did with him made me all giddy inside. When I play through my second walkthrough of the game, I'm going with him.
+ But of course I decided to go with Anders because I have a thing for tortured guys with demons inside of him who is saying plenty of Edward Cullen-isque things but he's not Edward Cullen and has legitimate excuses for pushing Champion away so he can get away with it. Also, Sev told me her efforts were worth it so I went for it. My closing opinion on this romance option: no regrets. (Plus I went for him partly due to his name. When I told my sister was his name was, we spent ten minutes making fun of it and laughing and making derpy noises over it.)
+ ...I realized something: he doesn't give into her advances for three whole years, and he's ached for her for all those years? That's...some serious sexual tension right there. Huh.
+ Still pissed that Varric can't be wooed. Bioaware can give us an optional character to download that you can romance but refuses to sleep with you, yet they won't give us the option for Varric to flirt with your Champion? Balls. I will find these people and beat them in a dark alley.
+ I miss the romance scenes from Origins. I never thought I would.
Now, more plot-related things that are actually important:
+ The Qunari are so weird. I thought Sten was an enigma, but their existence just confuses me.
+ I'm a little sad that Bethany ended up in the Circle of Magi after Act 1. So horrible. I felt better when I realized I couldn't do anything to stop it.
+ I have to admit that I'm really not sure how to feel about a character who becomes AWESOME RICH after the first act of a video game. Only because I finished playing my Grey Warden who had the stake of the entire world on her shoulders, traveled in the wilds with her friends and slept in tents, and constantly fought darkspawn...to playing a character who runs away to Kirkwall and discovers she's a noble and gets to be a noble. Although I'm extremely happy that you can stash shit at her place.
+ SANDAL IS SO CREEPY BUT I'M ECSTATIC THAT HE LIVES WITH THE CHAMPION. So hilarious.
+ Not sure how they're going to play into the storyline, but I really, really hope I get to see the Grey Wardens from Origins.
Also, there is a sad amount of good Anders icons. And Merrill. I don't want to go deep into icon communities yet because I'm afraid I'll walk right into spoilers.

Date: 2011-03-13 04:22 am (UTC)And YES, Merrill is available to males AND females! Actually, ALL the characters are bisexual, except the Chasity archer prince DLC. Lulz, good luck with that, Bioware.
I DID get to 'jokingly' flirt with Varric in my game! He says 'Bianca is the jealous type' or something, ahaha. OH OH, and you should HEAR the dialogue between Isabella and him. Soooo hilarious.
The romance scenes in origins were better. Not as Romantic as Anders, but at least there was partial nudity. Sigh. Stupid fade-to-black.
Sandal is AWESOME. And I won't spoil anything, but he does show up in a ridiculous area at the end of the game just like in Origins XD Lulz.
