Still sick and fairly crabby, even with Panera Bread in my tummy, so I stole this meme from two awesome people on my flist.

Name a fandom and I'll give you 3 unpopular opinions.

An entire list of my fandoms can be found HERE. Ask for any of them. Even if I can't think of three, I'll try and come up with one, at least.

Other than that, I've been obsessed with Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility. My character married the doctor and I finally upgraded my house to a two-story. Oh and she's due to have a baby after season Spring is over. D-Don't judge how excited I am about this.

Also, I've gotten around to watching the first season of Big Bang Theory, and now that I know what the show's about and the characters, I no longer care about it because it pretty much has the dumbest shipping war ever.

EDIT: For the meme, we've got Sailor Moon, Teen Titans, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Final Fantasy X, and Soul Eater. Feel free to ask for any other fandom!

Hahah, it's cool! It means that people have to pick other fandoms outside of my usual picks. IT MAKES THEM SWEAT A LITTLE.

Sailor Moon

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
1. Shittenou/Senshi ships are horrible and they don't make any sense. I think it's because I watched the anime first and I still love it over the manga in some respects, but in my humble opinion and based on what I remember, Beryl's generals didn't get as much character development in the manga as they did in the anime, where I felt they actually had personality. (Also, I love Nephrite/Naru and Kunzite/Zoisite way too much to picture them with anyone else. I just can't do it because I feel guilty about it later.)

2. While I admire Uranus/Neptune for what it stands for in the series and how they were my first exposure to a canon f/f ship, I think they're an extremely boring couple because they're boring characters to begin with.

3. Seiya/Sailor Star Fighter is a woman, not a man. That's all I've got to say about the subject. WANNA FIGHT ME ON IT?

Avatar: The Last Airbender

1. Aang wasn't selfish for refusing to kill Ozai, and his pacifism didn't come out of nowhere. I knew he wasn't going to kill Ozai since the beginning of season two when he felt guilty about going into the Avatar state because he didn't want to hurt or kill anyone. It may not have been completely obvious, but I always felt that his convictions were there, and I think he did the right thing by ending the war his way rather than what everyone else expected out of him.

2. I don't feel sorry for Ozai at all. It's ridiculous how many people genuinely feel bad for Ozai, even though he was abusive with Zuko, possibly negligent with Azula by placing too high of an expectation onto her shoulders, he killed his own father (and he was going to kill Zuko if Ursa hadn't interfered), and he would've committed genocide if Aang and the others hadn't stopped him. While I do understand that he came from a highly toxic background and he was doomed from the start, I'm not going to feel sorry for somebody who tried to kill off an entire race of people and lacked the sense to realize what was wrong with that logic. So FUCK THE PITY PARTY, because Ozai had it coming.

3. Sokka/Toph is the best Sokka/ladies ship, sorry to say.

There's always more unpopular fandom opinions for Avatar, but those are my main three.

Teen Titans

Date: 2010-09-08 08:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Oh God, it's been awhile since I looked at Teen Titans fandom. Um, I'll try and retrace what I remember about it.

1. The amount of m/m versus f/f slash is ridiculous. I like m/m, but there was just too much of it, and a lot of it just made no sense.

2. I don't mind people disliking Terra for the betrayal, but I hated how fandom ganged up on her and wished for her to die because apparently she was getting in the middle of a ship, rather than...y'know, WHAT SHE ACTUALLY DID TO THE WHOLE GROUP WHICH WAS HORRIBLE. Because, for one, Beast Boy and Raven's romantic relationship never existed to begin with, so there was no ship for Terra to destroy. And I hate how everyone misconstrued Raven's suspicion and initial dislike of Terra into something it wasn't. Also, betraying the entire group and nearly killing them is a little more glaring than breaking up a ship.

3. Kid Flash/Jinx is a stupid ship and they should've stuck with Cyborg/Jinx.

Pretty sure those first two aren't unpopular so much as "sane and logical".

Which I guess is the same thing as unpopular for the TT fandom.

yarly. TT fandom isn't exactly known for their sanity.

NOW I HAVE MORE UNPOPULAR OPINIONS. I just...it had to be limited to three per fandom or I would go on forever. D:

Final Fantasy X! ♥

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Oh man, I haven't explored FFX fandom in awhile (and I still need to beat the game, s-sob), but here we go! I'll give some of my opinions on it.

1. Seymour is gross and extremely unlikable. I don't understand why anyone would love him, even as a villain. Even his voice makes me feel unclean and violated. (Actually, I think Final Fantasy is lacking awesome villains in general lately. I know it's impossible to top villains like Sephiroth and Kefka, but they barely put any effort into them anymore.)

2. I'm not sure if I liked having Jecht as the villain in Dissidia, considering who he really was in FFX. I liked the scenes between him and Tidus, but it felt weird having Jecht as the main villain. IDK. I think it's just me and I think I just have to beat the game first. D:

3. I don't like Wakka/Lulu. Mostly because Lulu dated Wakka's brother before he died, but I also don't think they go well together. (Then again, I'm not a huge fan of goofy guy/moody girl ships, so this is just my bias talking.)

Ee, I agree with you, yay! Seymour is slimy, and I totally called him out as a villian the moment he walked on the screen. And Wakka/Lulu just came out of nowhere, I think. They make for good friends, but I think Lulu looks down on Wakka too much to make it a nice relationship.

As for Jecht, I suppose they did that because he's the final boss, and you never really see what the real villian looks like, really.

Seymour is such a creep. Everything about him just put me off from the very beginning. Also, as an added bonus, I'll never understand anyone that genuinely ships Seymour/Yuna. Like...did they watch the wedding with their asses instead of their eyes?

I agree with you about Wakka/Lulu. They're friends, but...yeah, they just don't have any sort of chemistry between the two. Or at least nothing that's really satisfying.

Ooh, okay. See, I didn't get to the end of the game yet. It still struck me as odd, but then again, that isn't my biggest complain about Dissidia. (One of them being, the creators saying if they make another Dissidia game and include FFXIII, they'd like to go with Sazh over Lightning, even though Lightning is their main character. ahkjakhjha. I like Sazh but oh hell no.)

Date: 2010-09-09 01:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitsuneasika.livejournal.com
I agree with the Seymour/Yuna too. I mean, usually I love villian/heroine ships, but that one...just does not work for me.

What? I mean, I don't know the characters, but if Lightning is the main character, then she should be the one in it, plain and simple. (Speaking of which, I actually haven't played Dissidia. I don't have a PSP [that's what it's for, isn't it?])

Date: 2010-09-09 10:32 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
It really doesn't, and I love villain/heroine ships, too! I disapprove of it because it involves Yuna suffering on some level or another, or the fans get off the struggle the two of them would have to go through to remain together. Come on, the girl's been through enough her whole life. Does she really need Seymour as a partner?

Dissidia is pretty fun, and yep, it's for the PSP. I've beaten Cloud's part way too many times to keep count, and Tidus is close second. But ... yeah, most of the cast is made up of guys, since most of the main protagonists have been male characters. I forget where I read it, but the creators nearly excluded FFVI's Terra from the line-up because they wanted the male protagonist Locke instead. So ... yeah, I'm not sure what that says about them, but it's a little weird they'd be hesitant to add in a female character even though she's obviously the main protagonist. :\

SOUL EATER which I should really. finish watching. one of these days.

Date: 2010-09-08 09:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
You shooooould.

1. I don't ship Soul/Maka. They're cute, but they don't do much for me as a ship, and I don't like Soul enough to ship him with anyone.

2. Medusa plays a good enough villain, but her popularity with the fandom is a little disturbing. Dudes, she abused her own child. That's kinda pushing it.

3. A lot of people don't like the ending, but I actually thought it was pretty neat and decent. It could've been better, but I think fans are being a little too anal. Plus, it's ten times better than what the manga's slowly turning into. :/

Kingdom Hearts

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Hahahah, good one.

I'm actually looking forward to the new KH game for the PSP. I didn't get the one for the Nintendo DS, since I hate the Nobodies, but I'm biased with the new one because it has Aqua; I have a character with the same name, so I'm extra biased.

Kingdom Hearts

From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
1. I really don't like the Nobodies, except for Axel and Roxas. To me, they only exist for fanservice and I think they're very bland by themselves.

2. Too many dicks on the dance floor, you guys. Not just for the bias towards male characters and the m/m ships, but the amount of character bashing towards the female characters is extremely unfortunate to see. Kairi's not a horrible character and neither is any other female character in the series.

3. Fuck the shipping wars. I'm all for an OT3. Sora/Kairi/Riku 4 eva.

I agree about the Nobodies, just too many characters overall. I've got the 358/2 Days game but I haven't touched it yet because the Organization doesn't interest me AT ALL... good thing I got that game for free.

... I can't even remember if there are any significant female characters apart from Kairi uhhh Namine?

I don't really know anything about the PSP game except for the Zack cameo, oh and Aqua's hair... I like the colour of it lol.

That's cool you got it for free. I still haven't gotten around to buying it. I doubt I ever will, because the only Nintendo DS we have is one of the older ones and the touch screen is busted, and I'm not willing to buy another one just for one game. :/

Unfortunately there's only Kairi, Namine, the blond female Nobody, the female Nobody from 358/2 Days, and now Aqua. I'm not sure what everyone thinks about Aqua, but the girls always seem to get a lot of hate or indifference from the fandom and it's just not right.

I don't know that much about it either, except it's a prequel to the other Kingdom Hearts games and it explains some of the events before Sora became the Keyblade Master. AND YES, ZACK. <33

Disney

Date: 2010-09-09 01:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
This was harder, because I'm generally laid back about Disney as a whole, flaws and all, and I don't have any real unpopular opinions about it. But I do have some complaints, so here I go.

1. Ariel isn't really that awesome. Actually I think she's a bit of a spoiled brat. (Although I salute her for going after her man.)

2. I don't know why everyone was afraid of The Hunchback of Notre Dame when they were younger. My seven-year-old self thought the movie was badass. I was an odd kid.

3. After they get Rapunzel (I refuse to call it Tangled) out of the way, Disney should abandon Princess movies for awhile and focus on other fairy tales that doesn't feature a damsel in distress. I know little girls still like princesses, but I think they're outgrowing them sooner than they used to, and I think the formula's starting to slowly lose its touch.

I think a lot of people thought that about Ariel when they watch it with older eyes and realise 'wait she's known this guy for three days what...'

I remember thinking he looked strangely adorable.

Maybe they should go down the talking animal route again. I bet people are still dying for some sort of wolf story going by the amount of disney style wolves on devart.

Re: Disney

Date: 2010-09-09 09:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
Yeah, that's what bothers me about the movie. IDK, most of the time when I look into Disney fandom, everyone loves Ariel and act like she's the perfect Disney princess and she can't do anything wrong. Or at least the fandom I've looked into. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she's a little wacky.

Quasimodo is very adorable. I think he's one of my favorite Disney protagonists.

That would be cool! I love wolves, and Disney's put out a lot of good movies with talking animals. (Except the live- movies that use CG to move the animals' mouths. They're cute but it's just too fucking weird.)

Kim Possible?

Date: 2010-09-09 10:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] samatethecookie.livejournal.com
I forget what's an unpopular opinion and what isn't, but I do have opinions that need to be shared. And it's all related to ships. I'm really lame.

1. The canon ships did nothing for me. I think the writers sucked at writing romance in the show, or they didn't know how to transfer the chemistry between friends into a romantic relationship. (And I preferred Shego/Kim over Kim/Ron anyday.)

2. I kind of like Bonnie. I don't love her, because she is purposely set up to be disliked, but I can't really hate her because she's the Mean Girl who never gets what she wants and she's looked down on by her older sisters, and I feel a little bad for her. Oh and we all know she secretly wants to make out with Kim.

3. As much as I love Shego/Kim, I hate 80% of the fanfiction it attracts. Some fics involves irredeemable Stockholm Syndrome, most of them involve Shego randomly going good without any real development and having Kim almost always getting weepy and begging Shego not to leave her or something along those lines, and others are ... just plain weird. If there's any real awesome Shego/Kim fic out there, I haven't read it yet.
