I really hope this is some kind of a joke, but I doubt it. What the fuck is this shit?! Why is the guy who played Jasper Cullen in Twilight playing Sokka? Who is this chick? Why are they all white? HOW HARD IS IT TO FIND ASIANS TO PLAY THESE CHARACTERS? (The only one who can get away with a white actor is Aang.)

Also - Jesse McCartney? Jesse fucking McCartney, playing my Zuko?

If this is the definite cast for the movie, I refuse to go see it or put my money down on it, just based on principle. I WASH MY HANDS OF THIS MOVIE.

Edit: This post pretty much sums up everything I'm feeling about the Avatar cast very well.

O_o I wouldn't object to some of the characters not being Asian.....but Sokka and Katara should at the very least have the darker skin tone that is one of the characteristics of the water tribe. There are a number of possible ethnic backgrounds that could achieve the desired effect. Caucasian is not one of them.

Toph and Ty Lee could both easily be played by white actors.

I was really hoping they'd pick some relatively unknown people who all had martial arts training, actually, regardless of their ethnic background.

It just bugs me that the majority of the cast so far is being played by Caucasians for characters that obviously aren't white, especially Zuko. Jesse McCartney's bone struction is fine for Zuko and Katara, at least, but Sokka? No way are they going to get away with the guy that constantly looked constipated throughout the Twilight movie. DX

Oh, yeah, those two too (and let's not forget Teo; I kinda think he's awesome XD;), but since they're concentrating on the main trio, that's why I only mentioned Aang.

Same here! (Another thing that annoys me: how hard is it to find somebody with a history in martial arts training? They're going to have to train everybody from the basics, and it may or may not end well.)

Training the actress playing Katara from the basics would be okay since it looks like the movie is just going to be a live action rendition of season 1. Katara only gets pretty good by the end of the season.

...but Zuko and Aang? O_O Um. You need some serious agility and stuff to play both of them. Granted, this is what stunt actors are for, but.......

Admittedly, you might not find a lot of trained actors wth a history in martial arts, but in the case of people aged 11-15, you can train somebody to learn to act.
