I love to laugh.
Jun. 24th, 2009 10:59 pmIf anyone would like to give me a fandom that you'd like me to share three of my unpopular (or "likely to piss off someone somewhere") opinions about, feel free to comment.
I've done this meme before, but I never talked about the fandoms I wanted to talk about. The last time, it was just Disney and Teen Titans. HIT ME UP, PLEASE?
(If you don't know my fandoms, just look through my userpics. If there's something you think I'd be familiar with but isn't in my userpics or interests, go ahead and ask!)

Date: 2009-06-25 02:52 pm (UTC)I don't necessarily find her to be an out and out lesbian, but I don't think she is straight either, but I don't see anything between her and any male character at all, so I think there is more case for her to be secretly full on gay then any other character in the series, but I don't know, I hang with people who don't harp on the fact that she is gay, but I also generally hang with people who don't interact with Avatar fandom as a whole, because we think the fandom is idiotic and stupid.
Zuko/Sokka is probably the only one that I really like, though I could buy Zuko/Aang. ( i wish I could convince the fandom that if there was a triangle between Zuko, Aang, and Katara that it was Aang in the middle not Katara). But I mostly find boyslash boring
OH WORD ON NUMBER 3.
With regards to the finale, I am going to say i am the opposite of you in that it was the hate for the finale that pretty much drove me out (then their stupidity over the movie). But I am very much of a holistic person, so for me the finale as a whole was a perfect ending (but what I mean by perfect is different from what other people consider to be perfect), in that it hit me in this perfect emotional spot. Did I think there wee details that were off? Yes, but other then one thing concerning Azula and the Order of White Lotus, it brought all the characters that I loved to an awesome place, so I thought it was a perfect ending in this holistic way.
That said the stuff that bugged me, wasn't in general the stuff that bugged fandom, and I thought the stuff they harped about was stupid. So yeah. There you go.

Date: 2009-06-25 03:25 pm (UTC)The boy slash, yeah, you're right. It's boring. I like boy slash from time to time, but I get bored with it if it isn't done right. In Avatar, it's practically nonexistent for me. Like, Zuko/Sokka I enjoy. Roku and Sozin is another one I don't mind, but I prefer thinking of them as friends. All in all, the fic has to be REALLY convincing for me. If the guys are just reduced to yaoi stereotypes, I lose interest fast.
Oh no, it wasn't so much the emotion of the finale that bothered me, that was great! I love that everyone got a happy ending. It was some of the details of the finale that started to bug me, or how the story ended for some of the characters. Little things, like how I preferred for Zuko to find out about his mother instead of having that left in the dark.
I didn't like it when people bitched about the finale in a tone that it was THE WORST FINALE TO A SHOW EVER though, because it's stupid. Especially when they complained about Ozai's fate. Aang agonized over it. He didn't not kill Ozai because he was a wimp, and I hate it when people say he was. He didn't do it because he genuinely couldn't live with himself if he killed Ozai, and he felt like there was another option available to him, somewhere. He found a way to stop Ozai without having to murder him, and to me, that speaks of his strength more than just settling to kill him. It was also a bigger punishment for Ozai, who was so used to being powerful and controlling others (such as his children).

Date: 2009-06-25 03:37 pm (UTC)But then I don't read Azula pairings in general, like with Azula, she is my least favorite of the Dangerous Ladies, and outside of Ty Lee/Azula, I have very little interest in her by herself.
I do have boyslash pairings that I like a WHOLE LOT, but not in Avatar. Avatar, I am very much women focused.
The only things that got me in the finale was I felt the thing with Azula slid a bit too much "give a woman power, and she goes crazy" complete with the hair cutting. That bothered me, and the lack of women in The Order of White Lotus.
I am not a detail oriented person which is why things like that don't bug me as much, which I think makes me odd in fandom, because a lot of people seem to be detail oriented.
